Welcoming September: A creative Journey through Balconies, Urban Art, and the Essence of Autumn

September has arrived, bringing with it the start of autumn, a season I deeply love. There’s something magical about this transition between summer and autumn:

the air becomes cooler, the leaves start to change color, and the city transforms into a living canvas, where warm, golden tones paint every corner. As an illustrator, I've always been drawn to the beauty of urban everyday life, and nothing represents this transition better than a balcony preparing to welcome autumn.

I wanted to capture this atmosphere in a new illustration, a tribute to my passion for balconies and urban art. Balconies, to me, are small worlds in themselves, microcosms that tell stories of daily life. They are places of reflection, contemplation, and often simple beauty. With this illustration, I aimed to create a scene that embodies the essence of the seasonal change, a "Welcome to September" that simultaneously bids farewell to the past summer.

The illustration is a blend of the fading summer and the advancing autumn. An autumn sunbeam, less warm but still enveloping, illuminates the scene, creating an atmosphere of serene melancholy. The city in the background, with its tones and architectural details, completes the picture, highlighting that mix of nostalgia and anticipation that characterizes this time of year.

In the creative process, I let myself be guided by the feelings that autumn evokes in me: tranquility, reflection, but also a sense of renewal and preparation for what is to come. Every detail of the drawing was designed to convey these emotions, from the longer afternoon shadows to the delicate play of light and shadow that only September can create.

Publishing this illustration in the "Creative Process" section of my blog seems like the perfect way to share with you not only the final result but also the emotional and artistic journey that led me to create it. Every illustration I make is a part of me, a small piece of my inner world that I take and put on paper. I hope this illustration can convey to you the same sense of welcome and peace that autumn brings.

And you, how do you welcome autumn? Do you have a special place, a small corner of the city or your home that you enjoy observing as the seasons change? I would love to read your thoughts and perhaps see how autumn inspires your creativity as well.

Happy September to everyone!
